Rudy

6x6
acrylic on gessobord
This painting was both rewarding and sad to paint.  One of my dear friends lost her sweet boy, Rudy, recently.  I never had the chance to meet him, but enjoyed watching his life through photos posted on Facebook.  I loved the feeling of peacefulness and relaxation I felt sweet Rudy was experiencing when I saw the photo I used for this painting.  R.I.P Rudy.

Sunny Day Water Play

8x6
acrylic on gessobord
I don't know how many of you have taken a dip in the Puget Sound, but let me tell you...It is Co-old! Especially in Seattle!  It doesn't seem to bother kids, though!  All the adults that braved it into the frigid waters had these pinched faces.  Oh to be young again.  Sigh.  This little girl was having a blast running to and from the water with her buddies.

This is a painting I just finished for a friend.  I'm thinking I should have worked out some puppy play time for me in the deal!  What a cutie pie!

Sunny Seattle Beach Day

8x6
acrylic on gessobord
This past weekend I was lucky to be in Seattle.  The weather was Glorious!  It was sunny AND warm!!!  Woohoo!  I had a wonderful time on the beach, visiting with friends, and soaking up the sun (and shooting tons of photos for future paintings!  Of Course!)  I was excited to work on this piece.  I really wanted to capture the feeling of the day as well as use multiple "greys".  I often struggle with my muted tones, and this was great practice!  I'm quite happy with the outcome.  Enjoy!

Canoes On the Canal

6x6
acrylic on gessobord
This is one of my favorite "happy places".  I absolutely love Kailua Beach!  The multi colored canoes is what really drew me to paint this.  I was really trying to capture the warmth of the sun in this piece.  Enjoy!

The Bigger the Stick the Better

6x8
acrylic on gessobord
This is another painting of the 'I Could Do This All Day' retriever.  He seemed to have found one of the largest sticks to play with!  Our dog, Salty, is obsessed with having the biggest stick on the beach.  The last time we were playing down by the water, he found such a huge stick (more like a log!), I could hardly throw it!  Crazy dogs!

This is another one from my January visit to Los Angeles.  I just loved being at Rosie's Dog Beach!

Curious Dobie

6x6
acrylic on gessobord
The one breed of dog that I have carried a fear of most my life is the Doberman.  That is, until I met Oliver.  Oliver is a 125 lb. Doberman that came to our shelter a while back.  At first, I was very cautious around him.  It didn't take long before he showed me what a sweet, loving,  and adorable hunk of a dog he could be!  The biggest problem I had after that was getting him off my lap!

"Curious Dobie" isn't a portrait of sweet Oliver.  I used a photo I found on Pixabay that reminded me of him.  Oliver found his forever loving home quite some time ago, and I couldn't be happier, but I still miss seeing his goofy face!

Songbird

6x8
acrylic on gessobord

One more Spring bird.  I couldn't help but paint this singing sensation!  It's been sunny here for almost a week now, and the birds have been singing like crazy!  I used a photo from Pixabay to paint this one too. Enjoy!  Happy Singing!
