Water Lilies

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
I painted "Water Lilies" for this weeks DPW challenge; A little Monet-ish challenge. I always enjoy painting water.  The sunshine on the lily pads matched our weather here in Washington this week.

Bow Reflection

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
While visiting Port Townsend, I enjoyed walking the docks and capturing various shots of the beautiful boats scattered throughout the marina.  The warm colors of the vessel set against the cool blue water is what drew me to this particular boat.

Little Westie

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
I Love these little dogs.  When I saw the picture of this little guy, it reminded me of a friend's westie, and I knew I had to do a painting of him.  Short, white, and cute as a button is how I like describing these adorable dogs.

Gossiping Seagulls

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
I loved painting the highlights on these birds and the warm aqua water.  To me it almost looks like these two are having an incognito conversation like;  "Okay, don't look yet, but there is a super hot gull swimming by the rocks...".  Can you tell I have two teenage girls?

Seagull Confrence

6x8 acrylic on canvas panel
$50
This was such a fun painting to do.  Who knew fowl could be so interesting!  My very talented photographer friend, Donna Richard, let me use her photo as a reference.  The highlights and shadows brought this painting to life for me.

Cannon Beach Sunset

6x8 acrylic on canvas panel
$50
This is my entry into this week's Daily Paintworks' challenge; skying.  I used a photo from many years ago to paint this sky scape.  The sunset was particularly colorful that evening.

Watch Dogs

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
While walking around in Newport, Oregon, we stumbled upon Harry's Bait and Tackle shop, more notably, his "guard dogs".  These two mellow, adorable labs caught my attention and heart right away.

Poipu Waters

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
This is one of my favorite views, looking out to the ocean from Poipu, Kauai.  My mom loves watching for humpback whales from this spot.  The ocean always seems bluer (not sure if this is even a word, but you get the idea, right?) here.  Ahhh paradise.

Swaying Palms

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
Even when it's windy in Hawaii, it's gorgeous.  It has always amazed me how these skinny palm trees can withstand the strong winds.

Storm Warning

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
This is a painting of stormy skies just off of Kailua Beach and Lanikai.  The water was this eerie light blue and the skies a dark, forbidding color.  The beach was pretty empty except for a few brave souls. I am trying something a little different with my paintings.  I'm using a black toned canvas to paint on.  So far I love the "simple" effect it gives the landscape.
