Turtle Bay Surf

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
Growing up my family spent a lot of time at Turtle Bay (used to be known as Kuilima).  Last spring we took our girls there for a little "saltwater therapy".  The resort is bit fancier than it used to be, but for me, it was like going back in time.  My memories of Kuilima came flooding back.  I couldn't have enjoyed it more!

Saltwater 2

Salt Water Cures Everything

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
The ocean is my happy place!  I loved brushing on the deep colors of water in this painting.  I'm trying to learn to use my grays more effectively...an ongoing battle, but am pleased with the result of this painting.

Gray Harbor

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
This week's DPW challenge is, "The Rainy Day Challenge".  I chose to paint a nautical themed rainy day due to the numerous wet days we had on our boat while living aboard.  They really are quite peaceful and serene.  Almost as if the world is slowing down for just a bit.

Dolphin

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
A variety of dolphins escorted us on our year long cruise to Mexico and back.  We never became bored with these lovely, friendly mammals.  Our dog, Salty, especailly loved their regular visits.

Two Pelicans

6x8 acrylic on gessobord
$50
While on our cruise south to Mexico, we had a great time watching the antics of numerous pelicans.  I really like the hues in this painting.  I'm continually working on a looser, more painterly style, and loving it so far.

Plump Little Robin

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
One of my favorite things about springtime is the resurgence of birds and their beautiful songs.  I painted this for this week's DPW challenge, "the signs of spring".

Great Blue Heron 2

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
One painting of this beautiful creature is never enough!

Great Blue Heron

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50
We are very fortunate here in the Pacific Northwest to be graced by the presence of this beautiful bird.  My talented friend, Donna Richard, took the photo that I used for this painting.  She almost always has her trusty camera in hand and captures wildlife around our marina.  I

I chose to work the background in a bit more of an abstract fashion, and man was it fun!

Perfect Wind

6x6 acrylic on gessobord
$50

What a difference a little wind can make.  Our daughter is on the local sailing team, and wind is often  non existent, so I painted this in hopes there would be some perfect conditions coming their way.
